  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor
Gingerbread Spices
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger for warmth
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg for depth
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves for spiciness
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt to enhance flavors
Garnish
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream for topping
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for sprinkling
  • 1/4 cup gingerbread cookies for crumbling on top

Method
 

Prepare Hot Chocolate
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the chocolate chips and sugar until melted and smooth.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  4. Continue to heat until hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
Serve
  1. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs.
  2. Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and crumbled gingerbread cookies.
