Ingredients
  

Pie Crust
  • 1 each pie crust store-bought or homemade
Filling
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans toasted if desired

Method
 

Prepare the Pie Crust
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in the pie pan and set aside.
  2. If using a homemade crust, roll it out and fit it into the pie pan.
Make the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the corn syrup, sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
Bake the Pie
  1. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is slightly cracked.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before slicing.
