Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • powdered sugar (for drizzling)

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • baking dish
  • Oven

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes). Melt butter and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Add melted butter, salt, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined; gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (1/4 inch thick). Spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar evenly, then layer sliced strawberries.
  5. Roll tightly into a log and slice into rolls. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar mixed with milk before serving.
