Prepare the Apples
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
- Place a baking sheet lined with parchment paper nearby for the dipped apples.
Make the Toffee
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Increase heat and bring to a boil without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
- Once the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and food coloring.
Dip the Apples
- Quickly dip each apple into the toffee, swirling to coat evenly. Allow excess to drip off.
- Place the dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet to cool and harden.
Serve
- Once the toffee has set, serve the apples as a spooky Halloween treat.
