Method
Prepare the Meat Sauce
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Make the Cheese Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
Assemble the Lasagna
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Add a layer of meat sauce, followed by 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and remaining mozzarella on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve
- Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
