  • ½ cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a standard loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet mixture until just mixed. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Create wells for the hidden heart filling using extra chocolate chips or melted chocolate. Cover with remaining batter and bake for 50-60 minutes until slightly gooey in the center.
