Ingredients
  

Chicken and Filling
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts pounded to 1/2 inch thickness
  • 4 slices ham thinly sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese or Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for dredging
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup bread crumbs for coating
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
Sandwich Assembly
  • 4 buns sandwich buns toasted
  • 1 cup leafy greens such as lettuce or spinach
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise optional

Method
 

Prepare the Chicken
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Season the pounded chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.
  4. Fold the chicken over to enclose the filling and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
Coat the Chicken
  1. Dredge each stuffed chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess.
  2. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with bread crumbs.
Grill the Chicken
  1. Place the coated chicken breasts on the grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and golden brown.
  2. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
Assemble the Sandwich
  1. Toast the sandwich buns on the grill for a few minutes.
  2. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  3. Add a grilled chicken breast, then top with leafy greens and the other half of the bun.
