Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Prepare the Garlic Herb Mixture
- In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic, parsley, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Shape the Bread
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into three equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a long rope, about 12 inches long.
- Spread the garlic herb mixture evenly over each rope.
- Braid the three ropes together and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the Bread
- Brush the braided bread with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Let it rise for another 20 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
