Ingredients
  

Meat and Beans
  • 1 lb ground beef can substitute with turkey or plant-based meat
  • 1 can kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with juices
Vegetables
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 medium bell pepper chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Spices and Seasonings
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper to taste
Liquid
  • 1 cup beef broth or vegetable broth

Method
 

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Chop the onion and bell pepper, and mince the garlic.
  2. Drain and rinse the kidney and black beans.
Cook the Meat
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
Add Vegetables and Spices
  1. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
Combine and Simmer
  1. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and beef broth to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve
  1. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with your choice of toppings.
