  • 1 cup breadcrumbs regular or gluten-free
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 large egg

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans until chunky.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in a skillet over medium heat until fragrant.
  3. Mix the sautéed onion and garlic into the mashed beans along with breadcrumbs, cumin, chili powder, and egg. Stir until combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into patties about ½ inch thick.
  5. Cook the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat with oil for about 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
