- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter if desired.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden brown while centers remain soft. Let cool before serving.
