  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter if desired.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden brown while centers remain soft. Let cool before serving.
