  • 1 pound large shrimp (deveined and peeled)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 whole zest of fresh oranges
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (fresh, grated)
  • green onions (chopped) for garnish
  • sesame seeds for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. Combine flour and cornstarch in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg and mix in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Dip the shrimp into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and then back into the flour mixture to coat.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the shrimp until golden and crispy.
  5. Remove shrimp from oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
