Ingredients
  

Gnocchi
  • 1 pound potato gnocchi store-bought or homemade
Bolognese Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 ounces
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Cheese Topping
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated

Method
 

Prepare the Bolognese Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Cook the Gnocchi
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add gnocchi and cook according to package instructions until they float.
  2. Drain gnocchi and set aside.
Assemble the Bake
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large baking dish, combine cooked gnocchi and Bolognese sauce.
  2. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  2. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the Bolognese sauce.
