Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper; stir in diced onions if desired for added flavor.
  3. Reduce heat to low, place cheddar cheese slices on top of the beef, and cover until melted (about 1 minute).
  4. Slice each hoagie roll down the middle without cutting through completely.
  5. Generously fill each roll with the cheesy beef mixture.
  6. Top with lettuce and tomato slices, then drizzle with ketchup and mustard.

Notes
