Method
Prepare the Oven and Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
Combine Wet Ingredients
- In another bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until fully incorporated.
Combine Mixtures
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
Add Optional Ingredients
- Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts if using.
Bake the Brownies
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool and Serve
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares and serve.
