Ingredients

Broccoli Cheddar Mixture
  • 2 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp or mild
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs for coating
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Coating
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs for coating
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated

Method

Prepare the Broccoli
  1. Steam the broccoli florets until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and chop finely.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form the Poppers
  1. Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls or patties, about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Roll each ball in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
Air Fry the Poppers
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the poppers in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching.
  3. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Shake the basket halfway through cooking for even crispiness.
Serve
  1. Remove the poppers from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, if desired.

These poppers can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just cook them straight from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
