  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk; let soak for a few minutes.
  2. Add ground beef, onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper; mix gently until combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs (about one inch) and set aside.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter; cook meatballs in batches until browned all over.
  5. Remove meatballs and set aside. In the same skillet, make a roux by whisking in flour with more butter if needed; gradually add beef broth while whisking.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and season with salt and pepper; simmer until thickened.
  7. Return meatballs to the gravy; simmer gently for a few minutes before serving.
