Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sauté onions and bell peppers for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them now and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  2. Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well for an additional 2 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low and place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid for about 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
  5. Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through to create pockets.
  6. Generously fill each roll with the cheesy beef mixture and serve hot.
