  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • powdered sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and softened butter. Add eggs, instant dry yeast, granulated sugar, and salt; mix well.
  2. Gradually incorporate bread flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. For the filling, mix softened butter, light brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until creamy.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, roll tightly into a log, slice lengthwise to reveal swirls.
  6. Braid the two halves together and place on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Let the braided dough rise again for 30 minutes, then preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush with beaten egg before baking for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
